A rich history since 1827

Château Purcari is the oldest winery in Moldova, founded in 1827 by royal decree of Tsar Nicholas I of Russia. The winery was already awarded at international exhibitions in the 19th century, including the 1878 World Expo in Paris. Even members of the British royal family, including Queen Elizabeth II, were admirers of the iconic Negru de Purcari. The long winemaking tradition and French influences are still visible today in the style of the estate and the character of its wines.

World-class wines at Château Purcari

The vineyards of Purcari are located in the Ștefan Vodă region, near the Black Sea, where the unique terroir and mild climate contribute to exceptional grape quality. Some of the best wines in Eastern Europe are produced here. The top wines include:

  • Negru de Purcari – powerful, complex, and award-winning
  • Roșu de Purcari – an elegant red wine
  • Alb de Purcari – refined white wine with floral aromas
  • Freedom Blend – a symbolic wine with grapes from Moldova, Georgia, and Ukraine
  • Ice Wine – a unique sweet wine made from frozen grapes

With over 300 international medals from competitions such as Decanter and IWSC, Château Purcari is a proud ambassador of Moldovan wine around the world.
